Just got back on Wednesday morning - should have been tuesday afternoon but got delayed. We arrived in Bali on 25th Dec at about 12.30pm to rain rain and more rain - got through VOA very quickly no problems - all customs were asking for was alcohol - I had mine packed very tightly in my suitcase so I told them I didnt have any so no problems, got to the Garden View Cottages by about 1pm - after much twoing and frowing we finally got our rooms (we had booked superior rooms and it appeared they were pretty scarce) there were 6 of us with another 7 arriving on the afternoon flight (the split was due to the travel agent accidently cancelling 6 of our tickets so we had to fly on the 9am flight or wait 3 days so I missed Xmas with my children who were on the afternoon flight) anyway first up our bathroom was a swimming pool there was not one leak in the roof but the whole roof leaked soaking everything and to add to this the toilet leaked as well. Our lights kept flickering on and off due to the water in the ceiling - I wouldnt have minded but the staff just did not care it took 5 days to stop the bathroom ceiling leaking but no luck with the toilet - we tried to get another room but they told us they had no other rooms available and as part of our group who had booked and paid for superior rooms were in standard rooms we made the best of it and continually asked for extra towels to put on the floor of our room due to the water.
Anyway enough of our room - we went to the Safari park and had the best time - I had a photo taken patting a white tiger (I think it was drugged) and I held a lion cub - the safari was absolutely fantastic I would highly recommend it to anyone. We were only going for the morning but spent the whole day there as there was so much to see and I thought it was very reasonably priced.
We checked out Carefour and all I can say is you have to try the pastries in the supermarket they are to die for. We did the Denpasar department stores and Tuban Matahari - we had plenty of massages and facials - one of the best restuarants we ate at was the Queens Indian rest in Seminyak the setting was great and so was the food we did book as we were told it gets very busy. Bought heaps in Geneva and everywhere else. We have just booked to go back in September but we will not be staying at the Garden View this time.
