The last time I was in Bali (2003), when I arrived at the airport (Denpasar), the security handlers that put your luggage through x-rays wanted me to pay them US$100. cash or they said they would turn me in for having too many kilos of silver beads.....I told him I only had US$50. as I decided that I didn't want to go through all the hassle of of being "turned in." Has anyone else had this experience? I'm heading back to Bali mid-June, and of course, I'm purchasing more beads. I would distribute in my luggage, however, I'm also fearful of theft while in transit.
Please advise.
