Well, firstly I did NOT hear the programme U refer to. However, taken on 'face value' it is feasible to say 'do not trust the Police' because we have all, at some time, seen or experienced incidents of bribery & graft. As to a person having a specimen taken and that specimen becoming 'lost' or 'mixed up'... IT HAPPENS HERE! so why not in Bali? or any other country? (The rifle used by Martin Bryant in the Port Arthur massacre in Tasmania was previously handed over to Police for destruction!). So I say it is possible that evidence does become misplaced or mixed up, and technically speaking the radio man was possibly correct! Some of the 4.0kg drug cache alledgedly smuggled in by that Aussie girl has supposedly gone missing... so, I guess anything is possible.
So, there are plans to randomly test club revellers for drugs.. it is already well & truly "in" for sporting events and many other places. Even race horses are tested! I don't see any reference to testing for shopping, sunbaking, looking at topless ladies, pool bar enjoyment, smiling Bali kids, our kids joining Bali kids in a chat or a game on the beach, eating at our favourity warung or restaurant, or the myriad of other reasons most of us go to Bali.
The thing that probably concerns me most is a report I saw on telly wherein yet another Aussie girl who is facing drug charges in Bali, says she cannot go out to a nightclub and really enjoy herself unless she takes Extasy!! That is unbelievable! If I were a nightclub operator I would have to be having a real close look at how my club was operating, so some of my patrons would not be driven to using illegal substances just so they could enjoy my club!
Maybe I am just getting old, and could indeed be as stupid as some of my teenage kids used to think I was!.. but, I am proud to say that at 55 years of age I have NEVER used or taken an illegal substance! Forget Extasy or other pills; I don't even know what dope looks or tastes like, and neither does Rhonda or our kids: if that makes us 'old' or 'out of touch' then bring it on! I better go have my cuppa that Rhonda has kindly made me! Cheers.
