There are rats in Bali. Millions of them. In the forest, in the streets, in every pile of rubbish. And they are mobile, so if they're not already in a hotel, they will visit occasionally.
You can pay what you like, complain to whomever you like, whack as many rats on the head as you like. They will still be there.
Millions of ships have landed on Bali from all over the world. It's only natural there will be rats. Maybe they're not indiginous to Bali, but neither are humans, by the same logic.
Do rats respond to those sonic thingies that humans can't hear but drive rodents mad? Maybe they could get some of them. But that will just send the rats somewhere else.
I am surprised they went in the pool, though. I would have thought the chlorine would keep them out.
Maybe the $500 would be better off being handed to the sanitation department, rather than the owner of the villa.
