"Cliff" - is this a pseudonym for your real name, Mark, the Australian GM of Bora Bora? Your lack of logic and lumbering ability to attempt to side track off of the main point reminds me of this guy. I remember as I was explaining my concern over the fact that one of our little kids touched one of the swimming rats and the kids were in the pool for hours with a dead rat floating around, Mark was giving us a second-grade level thesis on the psychology of rats and how they make great pets.
"Cliff"/Mark: I can see that you are a rat lover and more power to you. But when paying "luxury" rates at any hotel or villa (by the way, Bora Bora is not one stand-alone villa but a complex of enclosed villas which are supposed to provide full hotel services and is advertised as such) do you really think that having rats running around is okay? Do you think that rat problems are only severe in Bali? If you're staying at a Four Seasons or Aman ( or any reputable hotel), for example, are having rats in your villa a common problem- do you think management at these hotels would be so non-chalant about having rats in someone's swimming pool. Bora Bora charged these level of rates- they aren't some run-down huts on a beach. Wake up, mate! Even the cleaning staff and cooks at Bora Bora were appalled and embarrassed that this happened- why aren't you??
Anyway the main point I wanted to make about Bora Bora Villas is don't stay there. I love Bali and I've been there six times over the past 10 years. I will be going back but not to Bora Bora - you shouldn't either.
