Just trying to organise some accomodation for 2 nights in Ubud. I'm doing the cooking school dealy at Casa Luna and thought I'd just stay at the Guesthouse with it being easier to get there at 8am for the class etc.

They've just got back to me and said that the Dewi rooms (Rp300,000 +15%) are all booked out and offered me the top of the range Laxmi A room for Rp500,000 +15%. That's a big jump in price for a single person staying in the room all by my lonesome. I'm waiting to hear back if any of the other room classes are available or if these are the last ones left.

Meantime I've been looking around and Tegal Sari seems much better value for the rupes, and definitely has glowing reports (and the pics look gorgeous). The question I guess I really want to ask is that it seems a fair bit further out of the central area. Is it really as far as it seems, or is it an easy enough walk back up to Jl Raya Ubud?

The main thing I'm thinking of is getting to Casa Luna by 8am for the cooking class. I've never stayed in Ubud before, only done the day trip thingy with stopping off for a couple of hours. I undertand taxis are few and far between and don't mind walking as long as the distance isn't too far. I'm not superfit, lol. Anyone who's stayed at Tegal Sari, how did you go about travelling to and from the hotel?

Any advice and opinions are appreciated.
