Let me guess, you're young. I am too, so don't take offence. I agree with you, i'm comfortable with people wearing whatever they want. Sure they should show respect when going to a temple. I wouldn't wear a bikini to church, but living on the Goldie, I have been known to shop in boardshorts, bikini top and no shoes. It's what you do when in a seaside place. It's hot. Dress for the whether and lifestyle.
I don't take offence when muslims come here and cover their faces and limbs, that's there right, and as long as noone is directly trying to provoke a bad reaction from someone else, I don't think anyone should take offence to how another is dressed.
You should never go into someone elses personal space and touch them on the head though. Thats going to far.
People being drunk and loudmouthes are everywhere. Not just people on holidays, I know an awful lot of locals (in Aust) that should be ashamed of the way they act around tourists!
Otherwise, don't worry so much about what other people are doing, if you don't like the name they are projecting about your country, go out of your way to let the locals know that not everyone is ignorant.
