Unfortunatedly this is not the case in Indonesia recently.Education in Indonesia gradually exhibit an inclination to Islamic cause,this means a backward education like in Arab kingdom where 60 % of curriculum allocated for religious ( of course Islamic ) study. You know they're not commited to modernisation and sadly they used to oppose it
Megawati and SBY have alloted department of education's head of office to Islamic parties. The current minister of education is Mr. Bambang Sudibyo of Partai Amanah Nasional, a moderate Islamic party.
