We went over for a few days a number of years ago. We went on the traditional style ourigger from Sanur and had a very smooth trip.
The day we came back, the outrigger wasn't available, so we were on one of the state-of-the-art ferries. Got bounced around all over the place.
I believe the outrigger is much cheaper, but I'd choose to use it anyway, regardless of cost.
