Hi Leith,

In KL here is two hotels. JW Marriott I think about $150 per night and absoultely beautiful. Parkroyal Penang. About $100 per night.
Not as flash as the Marriott. Both are about 3 minutes apart. Both have nice pool areas and restaurants on site.
You have shoping at your door. Lot 10 between the 2. Depending on your size Istan is great for ladies wear and not expensive. This is inside of lot 10 shopping centre. Across the road is BB Plaza. Has a great department store not sure of name. Heaps of cheap shoe shops.
Attached to BB Plaza is Sungei Wang which is much the same. There is also a really great modern shopping centre not far by taxi but I cant think of the name. If you want the name I will get it for you. At night jump in a cab and go to china town. Its like the markets in bali. But a little better quality and not as much of a hassle. Watch your backpack/wallet though.

Penang I really recommend Crown Plaza Parkroyal. We have stayed 3 times there and are trying to get there in January on our way home from our trip. We got quoted about $600 I think for 5 nights. Not sure if that was an ocean view room though. Great hotel, has just been renovated. If you stay there get a deluxe seaview room. Great views over the pool and ocean. Spotless. Has a nice balcony. Has heaps of water sports. Jet skis (cheap), sailing all that type of thing. Gorgeous pool area. Lots of shade if you want and deck chairs. A couple of nice restaurants on site and next door. Good money changer accross the road and also deli for cheap drinks you can take back to the hotel to have around the pool. I have to say this hotel is one of my favourites. Its no Marriott but its just a really nice hotel. There are night markets out the front of the hotel for about a kilometre selling watches, clothes and all that type of stuff. There is a shopping centre not far away from here but thats another I would have to see if my friend remembers the name. The golden sands from memory is a little away towards town from where the resorts are. If your looking at brochures give the holiday inn next door to the parkroyal a miss. Bloody awful. If you want some photos of the pool area I might be able to see if a friend can scan them and email them to you. All I can say I love both the parkroyals in both KL and Penang. KL for closeness for shopping. Straight across the road. You can go on your own if you feel a bit funny about wandering around on your own. Penang is just really nice and relaxing.

And other questions just let me know.

Caz
