Fast boats to Gilis

Hi, my family (2 adults, 2 children - 12 + 13 years) are going to Gili Air in January. I have been reading lots of negative comments regarding the fast boats over and am very nervous about this now. We are flying back but thought it maybe ok to go over by boat in the morning? Does anyone have any positive feedback or can someone tell me what percentage of boat journeys are cancelled at this time of year? Thanks
