In my view it is not unreasonable to request that bottles that have been opened be properly sealed, or that the cases that such bottles are in be properly sealed or wrapped to avoid affecting others.
You say that "neither of which you have to comply with".
I would suggest that if airline staff have reasonable reason to request any action from a passenger, they have the right to refuse passage if that passenger does not comply with a reasonable request.
Up to you but if push comes to shove on this one you may find that you have to take remedial actions as required by airline or airport staff.
