Hey DM I think your beer goggles must have fogged up.Your comment about the traffic in Thailand is a bit rich.I don't think you are comparing apples with apples.I agree with you that the traffic in Jakarta is as bad as the traffic in Bangkok but the most direct comparison to Bali is Phuket.I live in southern Bali and got back from a holiday in Phuket a couple of days ago.There is absolutely no comparison.There was very little traffic in Phuket and the drivers were all courteous and appeared to obey the road rules.The roads were also about 500 times better than Bali.Bali roads are hopelessly clogged with a bunch of non law abiding chancers who have absolutely no respect for their own or anyone else's safety.
Heres a sobering thought for you.There are 400 new motorbikes registered in Bali every week and cars are increasing at ten percent a year as well.There are virtually no road works (or even pot hole filling)going on anywhere.Don't get me started on the rest of the crumbling infrastructure or rabid over development.
The point to my rant is that people such as adrianS are entitled to constructive criticism without being howled down by the normal slack jawed Kuta dwelling masses.
