Over the years many people on the BTF have posted about the Helen Flavel Foundation, which started in March 2004.   It has just occurred to me that I should have posted and explain why the Helen Flavel Foundation is no longer operating.

On the 3rd January 2012, I handed the work carried out by the Helen Flavel Foundation Inc (HFF) to the Balinese people.  Back in 2004, they had registered Peduli Sesama Helen Flavel (PSHF), in the names of the two Directors, Nyoman Sukadana and his wife Nyoman Padmadewi.  Although they have decided that they will continue to use this Indonesian registered name.  I would like it known that I have no involvement in Peduli Sesama Helen Flavel, I have retired

From 2004 and up until the 3rd January this year, the two foundations had worked together with each carrying out their different roles. The role of the Helen Flavel Foundation Inc was to raise and supplying the funds needed so that Peduli Sesama Helen Flavel could carry out the work for our joint projects

Unfortunately my husband has Parkinson's Disease and his illness has reached the stage where he requires my daily assistance. The HFF had a demanding work load and I found I was having trouble keeping up.  I couldn't find anyone who was prepared to take on this un-paid role, so I made the difficult decision last September to step down in January 2012, after I had trained the PSHF staff to take over my work.

The Helen Flavel Foundation Inc has left Peduli Sesama Helen Flavel in a very strong position. There is no debt, absolutely everything is paid for, including

The beautiful Sukma Helen Flavel Functions Centre which is on eight Are of land.

The two story Sukma Helen Flavel Learning Centre which is on two Are of land, both buildings have excellent furniture, fixtures and fittings.

Two cars which were new when they were purchased

A second hand truck which is used to deliver Bedding, Furniture, Rice, Monthly Food Parcels deliveries

Plus numerous motorbikes

More importantly I am pleased to say that not only is everything freehold, when I handed over the reins in January, Peduli Sesama Helen Flavel had an extremely healthy bank balance. My thanks must go to the generosity of the many people who became involved with me and the HFF, it's due to their kindness that PSHF has a strong foundation to build on.
