I would never leave home without travel insurance however I know of so many that do. In my 7 years of coming to Bali I have never needed it but it's always nice to know I have it there if required.
Last week I was admitted to BIMC for a surgical procedure and can not tell you how grateful I was for the service provided from 1cover travel insurance.
I notified them once I knew I was going to be admitted, I gave them a brief overview of the situation and a contact number for me here in Bali. The next day they called me to advise they had reviewed all medical notes and cover had been approved - they advised a payment guarantee had been sent to BIMC confirming cover and payment and I did not need to worry about paying any money to the hospital.
I spent 5 days in hospital and had an operation on my 2nd day. 1 cover called every day to check on my wellbeing (always a nurse that I was speaking to). The total bill was in excess of $8000.00 - something that i did not have to think about.
BIMC - I can not fault anything about this hospital, the nurses were fantastic and could not do enough to make sure i was comfortable. The doctors kept me well informed and came around twice a day to ensure I was recovering well. The food was all western food, cooked and prepared as required and I could not fault this.
All in all a very positive experience. Even now I am still receiving calls from 1cover to see how I am going. I would not hesitate to recommend 1cover or BIMC. Of course you don't plan on getting sick when on holidays but it's nice to know you have the quality of BIMC available should the need the arise.
