Hi everyone, first time posting here. I'm insanely excited to be heading back to Bali in a couple weeks! First time was 10 years ago (heard about 9/11 on an outrigger out to gili air), at the very end of the dry/high season. This time will be for 15 days, obviously be during the rainy season, so want to make sure I'm preparing appropriately.
I've talked with several who say February is their favorite time in Bali, so I'm not too worried.
Firstly, what Ubud hotel is recommended that is by the river? My wife is coming with, and we are headed straight to Ubud (will generally be avoiding Kuta area) and I'd love to get a nicer place to introduce her to the island. Currently have reservations at Tjampuhan, which seems pretty nice, but mayve a little dated? Have a request in for a res at Tegal Sari, not by a river but looks beautiful and has great reviews. Generally, just want a nice (not luxury) place where my wife and I can settle in for a couple days after the long flight.
Second - my initial plan is to head out towards Munduk, then go to Pemuteran for a couple days. I'm planning on having own car, but may hire a driver...not sure I want to be driving Bali roads during wet season, but then I'd guess it's a little less crowded up there? Then thinking about heading back through Ubud, staying a night in PadangBai, then Gilis for a couple days. Do I have to worry about high surf with the fastboats?
