An article in the West Australian today reports the story of a man who had Bali Belly which triggered reactive arthritis. It goes on the mention that doctors said he is susceptible to the condition. I do feel for this man, however in my lifetime I've had severe food poisoning 3 times - twice from eating in restaurants in Australia, once in Lombok. Seriously, you can get food poisoning without leaving home.
But how about this statement toward the bottom of the report..
"Travel Medicine Centre Perth medical director Stan Khoo, who often sees patients after they return from overseas, said the number of people coming back from Bali with serious medical conditions such as dengue fever, rabies and Bali belly had grown with WA's love affair with the island destination."
Really? Rabies??
