Just back from 7th trip to Bali. Stayed at the Jayakarta for 8 nights. It rained the first 3 days but then the sun came out and we had 5 beautiful gorgeous hot hot sunny Bali days. We had a family of 4 travel with us this time, 2 adults with their 2 boys. It was their first trip to Bali. All of us adults got sick. 3 of us with Bali Belly requiring a visit from the hotel doctor and one had to be shipped off to hospital for treatment for Amoeba Parasite infection. She had to stay in hospital for 3 days on a drip. So they wont be going back to Bali. We will though we always love it. On the Sunday (day 2) we all had the same chicken dish at a restaurant in the Discovery Mall in Kuta and so we believe this to have been the culprit. The 2 young boys did not have the chicken and did not get sick. It was a real shame as our friends were not able to enjoy the holiday at all much.
I must say after 7 stays at the Jayakarta we were a bit let down with them this time. I had phoned thru twice and emailed and requested certain rooms, and they were not available for us when we got there, but they did move us (not our friends) on day 3. Also they wanted to charge us for our booking on our arrival instead of when we leave which is when we usually pay but after discussions with the manager the next day it was sorted. Also I know it is not something they can do anything about but the fireworks going off on the beach till after midnight was a bit much some nights. We just found it very noisy this time, had some woman on her balcony next to mine yelling into her phone in Russian at midnight, would have woken the dead, also some chinese people constantly standing outdide their door yelling instead of knocking on it oh dear!!!!!!!!!
But we still love Bali and had a good time overall, ate some great food and just relaxed, bought a watch from Bob and hats from Herry the Hatman, tshirts sunglasses etc. The people are so amazing and so friendly.
We will definately go back again but maybe in a few years time as we are off to the UK for our big hols next year.
