Candi Dasa (Shangrila) for $99 a week was nice but nothing to write home about. The room we had was a complete mish-mash of odd furniture. The meals in the "restaurant" were quite expensive and not all that clever. We ended up walking into town every night.

A sister (not the one we regularly go to Bali with) went to Bali for the first time a few years ago and got all excited, traded in the lovely time share that she had for a new one in Bali at Nusa Dua, and now regrets it badly. The place is full of Japanese and she tells us she can only have the room/apartment for one week every 2 years. I find that a bit odd, but that's what she tells us.

We looked into the timeshare thing, and decided that it wasn't going to work for us. If we'd bought into it when we were a lot younger it would have been great. Once you're past 60 and your health isn't absolutely wonderful, and you don't know how much longer you've got to keep travelling overseas, it's probably not worth it.

One timeshare company that really impressed us with their offer was Accor (google them). Daughter's mother-in-law has timeshare with them, and it works really well.

Good luck.
