You are correct. You must have had a current ComBank a/c for some time in Australia. If considering opening an a/c in Indonesia you must;
1: Have ComBank active a/c details (cards/statements etc).
2: Have a letter of "introduction" from your Australian ComBank. This is available from your HQ bank in capital city. MUST be on official ComBank letterhead, and ensure that the bank Stamps the document clearly - twice. Once over both your specimen signatures (if a joint a/c - Recommended),and the second clearly alongside the Authorising Officer's signature.
You will need x2 photocopies of all you ComBank credit cards, x2 photocopies of your Passports to take with you to Indonesia. You will need a substantial amount of AU$ currency to put into the a/c when it is opened.
Take the lot to Indonesia and when attending the Bank remember your Passports.
Please be aware that the ComBank Australia and ComBank Indonesia are totally stand-alone separate companies, although under the same banner. Methods of operation are very different. You can expect the new a/c process to take about 2-ish hours, if here are no hassels or hiccups.
Hope this helps.
