Social visa just like a tourist visa is initially 60 days
As said you will need to extend before the 60 days is up with the same sponsor that you initially applied with
First extension also now requires you to be present & provide photographs & fingerprints
It lasts a total of 6 months yes, but you must extend after the initial 2 months, every month up until 6 months
In your case you will need to extend twice
