It's all good to take kitchen appliances etc, in your suitcase, but think of his drivers house( electrical rating) as most locals will only have 2200 watts or most 3300 watts, this means if you buy a cheap toaster here and usage is usually 10amps this calculates at 2200 watts there fore his house will always trip out. It is great to think of helping but in most western electrical appliances the rating is too high.
A lot of expats only have 4400 watts or 5500 waatts so using an a/c kettle from Aus. and a few more appliances will trip there house as well, also consider safety as wiring and earthing in standard buildings is not to standards os international or Australian. Below is some average watt ratings for some appliances that may help your friend or you decide on buying in Aus. to use in Indonesia:
Kettle 2200 watts
Toaster average 2 slice 2200 watts
coffee Makers average 2500-3000 watts, this will burn out the p/point
electric knife 350 watts
hair dryers average 2500-3000 watts, this will burn out the p/point
Milk shake maker or blender almost same better buy there as rating is low and cost cheap.
hope some of these help.
