Customs, as we all know, can make up rules as they go along in order to 'gain an extra' and on rare occasions I have taken a kettle with me when the room I have chosen does not have those facilities, but a friend in Oz has posed this question to me and I would appreciate any feedback. He's going for 60 days next trip and his regular driver, from a family he has known for over 10 years, has requested kithcen appliances as form of payment. A very unique request to me but if he takes through various appliances, such as kettle,toaster,milk shake maker,slushee machine,coffee maker (to mention just a few), will he have problems at customs? Is it best for him to avoid the truth (in preference to saying 'lie') and state they are for his personal use as he is buying a villa there, or would the truth allow him to get them through?
If the truth were to be told, could we expect that they would 'request the extra'?
