Hi. Most locals only have 1300 watt electric in the house or kost. I have lived here almost 4 years & have never had more than that in any of the houses etc I have lived in. My advise is to buy the electrical appliances here. Firstly they are cheaper here & also they have lower wattage than in Oz. I brought a kettle from Oz a couple of years ago & couldn't use it as it overloaded my electric every time I turned it on. Also good idea to ask him what he needs (like someone above mentioned) as a rice cooker, blender or even a new gas cooker would be more practical for a local than a milkshake maker or coffee machine.
