Paying full amount upon check in?

Hi there I was wondering if someone can confirm weather or not it is 'safe' to pay full ammount of accomidation apon check in? Am emailing Satryia cottage and they have asked that I give credit details to secure room (will not take any money) and pay full accomidation apon check in? Would it be rude to ask to see the room first before paying incase there is a problem? I have heard of issues from people wanting refunds on poor rooms.

Any help would be great :)
