Satriya Cottages quite a few times over the past 3 years.
I have booked by email & paid on departure.
My last stay was June 2010 & the previous Mgr (Dipper) had left a week or so before we arrived.
Maybe there have been a few booking changes since Dipper left however with a lot of hotels, unless booking thru a Travel Agent, it seems accepted practice that when booking direct by email, no cr card details are requested.
Nor is payment "up front" on arrival.
Perhaps some guests have caused problems for Satriya recently & they have become cautious?
Maybe if you give your Oz phone number,names, flight details etc & explain in simple language, via email, that you can be trusted to:
a) turn up
b) be good guests who have had Satriya recommended by friends who stay there all the time
they would be more confident with your booking.
Nowadays I personally prefer Legian to Kuta however my friends, who are repeat guests annually, are returning yet again to Satriya Jul - Aug 2011.
Satriya Cottages is a handy hotel, beach end of Poppies 11, quiet inside grounds, nice gardens, 2-3* rooms (new rooms are higher rate but original rooms suffice), good rates, friendly staff, nice pool (swim up bar if that's a preference for you).
I hope it all works out OK for you as all my experiences @ Satriya have been good & you will enjoy your stay there I'm sure.
