I'll be spending a weekend with my Indonesian girlfriend in Yogya.
The last few years i've been staying at her house, but a few years back we had a bad experience at the Barong Hotel. This was a last minute trip over Christmas and the only hotel with a room available or Padma at $1100 a night!
Security were extremely rude about a bule staying with an Indonesian girl, asking for money even though her name was on the booking. She ended up really upset about the whole matter.
She is worried that in Yogya, some hotels may ask for a marriage certificate if we stay in the same room.
Anyone know if any truth to this? I'll be emailing the hotels tomorrow but thought i'd just check if anyone had any experience.
