No matter where the rubbish is actually coming from doesn't take away from the fact that some Balinese people seem to think it is OK to dump rubbish into rivers and the sea. I have wondered why people so attuned to nature and their surroundings and the "balance" treat their water courses as tips. I find this particularly evident around Ubud. I think maybe in the past with bio-degradable "rubbish" such as banana leaves etc., dumping was not a problem as nature "cleaned up" but with the advent of plastic (particularly water bottles and plastic bags)"nature" cannot cope? I am sure some visitors to Bali are also not doing the right thing in properly looking after there own rubbish - case in point - the wrapping of suitcases in miles of plastic to be left behind? Just my thoughts.
