This is a JBR report but also a big wrap for Travel Sure Insurance/Customer Care Pty ltd, which proved so valuable during our stay in Bali in September;
Hubby and I were so so excited to be returning to Bali again for the 4th Time. Last time was in 2008 and it seemed so long ago as we could not go in 2009 as I was having Chemotherapy etc for Breast cancer but with my health improved greatly we were booked and ready to depart Christchurch, New Zealand at 7 am on the 4Th September, 1st Bad move, at the Airport to check in a sound like a freight train then shaking, shaking, shaking. OMG an EARTHQUAKE. Evacuated out of the Airport and sent home but thankfully rebooked for 5th September.Home we go, no street lights, damaged roads but no one seriously hurt, Unbelievable considering this quake measured 7.1. Our house only had broken chimneys (which were easy to fix, just push them down) cracked ceilings but still had electricity etc, there were a lot of people worse of than us so very lucky No sleep tonight too excited, and those pesky aftershocks keep happening but no worries we are flying away to have 2 weeks of sunshine,rest and the company of the beautiful balinese people,(Oh how things can change so fast). Arrive at the La Walon in Poppies lane 1, certainly not first class but very adequate for our needs and pleasantly surprised after reading previous negative comments abouth this hotel on the forum, We had no problems and thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. 9 days into the holiday and hubby is not well, collapses twice at hotel and even though a doctor checked him and said he was ok less than a hour later collapses again, Call ambulance and after a very scarey ride get to the BIMC Clinic where he is diagnosied with internal bleeding, Now this is a worry as he is on Warfarin medication to keep his blood thin but unfortunately it is now too thin and needs to be thickened. Bimc have this under control and I am very impressed however also contact the Customer Care Travel Insurance.Blood,Platelets etc given but hubby is not responding very well so Insurance Company make the decision that we need to be air evacuated to Darwin for more medical treatment.Plane arrives from Singapore with Doctor and Nurse but hubby is now very sick so we now need to go to Perth for more in depth treatment so a larger plane is sent, doctor and nurse from Singapore stay with us and accompany us to Perth 30 hours after this has started. Amazing and such good care received from BIMC and travel Sure,Thank you Thank you Thank you for the treatment that saved my husbands life.
