OK, let me preface this by saying that I realise I sound like an uptight Western cow who needs to loosen up and respect 'Bali time', but this business of Balinese hotels ignoring email booking enquires is driving me insane.
If they're booked out, a short "Sorry, we're full" would suffice, and if they're not, why don't they want to secure a booking?!!!! All the hotels I want to stay in seem to be pretty popular, so it's very frustrating/nerve-wracking when they take forever to get back to you, or simply don't bother.
I don't understand why the people sitting at the reception desk all day can't answer a few emails. They seem to speak English and be able to write it in most cases.
Right, got that off my chest. Where's the Bintang....
