atms and cash

Ok so i am hopeing aud 4000 will be plenty for almost three weeks in bali have paid for flights and first few days accommodation.

Is it wise to exchange some aud money to rupiah before leaving aus???

I hear there are lots of commonwealth atms in indo, how can i check for skimmers???
Are there fees lower than other banks?
