JBR part 1 Kuta
We arrived by Virgin at 11.15 pm from Perth for our 25th anniversary spending 9 lovely nights in Bali and were through VOA and Customs within 15 minutes - our bags were one of the first off - don't know how that happened . Loved walking right past those who rush and push to get off the aircraft first, they are in so much of a hurry they are standing while the plane is still coming to the terminal. Great flight and the hosties really play up to the passengers. Heaps of leg room and plenty of food and drinks available for those who want it. Took my lap top and watched my own movie as we flew. As it was late didn't need to buy any thing. Agung was waiting at the airport to collect us (old friend from many many trips ago) wife did not know he was picking us up and had a big surprise to see him with his big smile. Cases loaded into the van and of to 'The Rani' - had never seen Kuta this quiet but then again it was nearly midnight. Checked into the hotel and was shown to our room up on the top floor (4 in all) it over looked the pool but then they all do as the Hotel is built in a U shape around it. Hotel was about half full. Our plan was to spend a couple of days here in Kuta to get the shopping done before heading off to Ubud for 6 nights. Did the normal shopping etc at Centro's and Matahari's plus any other shop between Melastie street Legian and the hotel in Tuban (...). Didn't realize how much I love shopping 'NOT' !!!
Got up each morning at about 6 as I can not sleep in on holiday and would walk down to Kuta beach through the hotels and along the new walkway. Think this looks really good compared to the old wall
Back to the hotel grab a coffee than back up to the room to wake the wife... Brekkie included was great , love sitting near the road and watching the streets come alive. One late afternoon after a bit more shopping we went out onto our balcony to have a drink closing the door behind us to keep the cool air in. Time for another drink - guess what the door had locked behind us ....We are now stuck on our balcony on the 4th floor. No way down - although I did wonder if I could do a bombie of the balcony into the pool. Pool area was deserted except for at the far end there was a man and his son - unfortunately neither could speak English . But soon a waitress came out to collect some empty bottles from near the pool we called out and frantically waved to her. She burst into laughter when she understood what we were calling out for... Thanks !!! Soon the manager appeared as shadows under the door and entered the room to let us back in. Phew - just glad firstly that we didn't need to go to the toilet and secondly that we were fully dressed and had not nipped out onto the balcony in our undies to relax..LOL A big laugh was had by all and the manager recounted some other funny stories he had come across since working there

Part 1 end
