You're saying that you decided NOT to use the room safe despite previous warnings,choosing instead to 'hide' your money somewhere else in the room?...to no avail of course as the thief found your wallet,left $50 as a goodwill gesture,none of which you were aware of until after you arrived at your next hotel.
The fact that you didn't look in your wallet when you retrieved it from your hidey hole seems rather strange given the hotel's reputation...and why would the hotel even consider offering to partially compensate your loss (out of staff tips,what a joke) if your wallet wasn't in the room safe? That would be the perfect 'escape clause' for the hotel.Sounds very fishy to me.I'm assuming you called the police AND took the 3 mil from the hotel.
In summary David,I don't think it's an interesting question at all,and it certainly backfired in this instance...USE THE ROOM SAFE EVERY TIME.At least it gives you some sort of recourse against the hotel.
