My money stash wallet was not needed until we were elsewhere so it was not checked for contents. Not revealing where it was "hidden" as that is none of your business, but trust me, we didn't look in it until later. The hotel believed our story and wanted to help for karma. The eventual compensation of the A$900 to us was a gesture by the hotel. They knew very well that money had been stolen previously out of the room safes on several occasions so they didn't push that line. I wouldn't trust a room safe as far as I could hurl it, to be honest.
I don't really understand your query here. Why would I call the police? What is the point? By the way, I haven't stayed there a second time.
