I have a Jetstar fare booked myself and am reading this in HORROR. And yes I have had a couple of interesting things happen, starting back in Sept., BEFORE the recession and these super cheap fares came into effect. A few months later their website was down for upgrading, "great," I thought, "that should fix the problem" - HUH! More problems when I changed the return flight a month ago.

Changed/cancelled flights have affected every cheap airline in Aus., according to this forum and a current affairs program. Seems to me the deal is - buy a cheap ticket, then once they have your non-refundable fare they chop and change it as it suits them! Caught in the cross fire is the full fare paying patrons. In a recession this is understandable although at times undoable, as people have other things planned around their flights.

However, the problems you have experienced with lost bookings and communication lines is 3rd world at best. Again I highly recommend you put it all in writing, otherwise it all falls on deaf ears.
