two weeks, one from Uluwatu area and one from South Kuta area. Both had been bitten several months ago and one had had one antirabies injection but not continued the course while the other had refused injections. There have been over 700 recorded dog bite incidents so far this year in Badung regency which covers most of the main tourist areas so the risk is very real. Need to remember that there will be absolutely no rabies symptoms for at least 3-5 months after the bite. This also is the case for any animal bitten and infected by a rabid animal - nothing to be seen for several months at least, while the virus slowly moves up the nervous system from the bite site to the brain. By the time any signs of the disease are seen fatality is certain. If bitten do get the full course of injections and you will never know if they were needed or not.
