Last night I dropped into Cafe des Artistes for a quick makan malam. Arrived at about 9PM, place was buzzing. Led to what is quickly becoming my usual table. I decided just to have a mains and a glass of wine so after downing the complimentary welcome fruit cocktail (albeit small but tasting like it had alcohol in it, all though I doubt it!) I ordered a rare tuna steak served on "melted green herb and garlic butter" and my selection of sides being sauteed parsley potatoes and a bowl of broccoli gratinee. A glass of local rose (Hattens - quite drinkable, and that is coming from a self confessed wine snob) to have with it. Drink served promptly and the food about 10 minutes later. It was possibly the best piece of tuna I have had in Bali, maybe even better than that at Nomads in Ubud.
For such a lovely place to visit with great atmosphere and great service the all up including food, drink and tax & service came to less than 95,000 rp.

I had eaten there on Friday night and had 3 courses and 2 glasses of rose and that came to 235,000 rp. The large sirloin steak that I had that night was delectable, as was the sauteed mushrooms and onions served on toated bread. The apple and raison pie with icecream for dessert was also a winner. I am getting hungry again thinking about it!

Regards,

David
