Hi all, family from perth 2adults and 2 kids (5 & 7).
Only decided to go to bali 3 weeks ago and found some great specials with Virgin Blue, $95 airfare, so for 4 of us to bali was $630 and return was about $750 (total around $1350.00 for jsut flights). Flew Australia Day at 7.30pm, great flight with little tv screens each, thru customs super quick, virgin were great would fly with them again for sure. This holiday was for some family time and we are all busy..
Tried to find somewhere to stay that would suite our shopping fixes and needs!! We chose the Santika for location etc etc...was great choice for location. Was going to stay at Febris across the road for half the price...
Santika Hotel was lovely, we had rooms 111 and 112 which were deluxe interconnecting, great spot facing the pool...only thing i didnt like was they dont have interconnecting rooms upstairs with balcony, dont like hearing the noise from up above! (just being fussy sorry). Pool was nice (and warm!) plenty of space etc, not very busy although lots of Russians staying at hotel as its thier winter...gee they love wearing the g-string bathers...I had to stop my 2 children from giggling and saying "wedgie" yuk...The last 2 years we have stayed at The Patra and now love both of these hotels...If i was staying longer I would have prob chose The Patra for value, i know its a little way down but now the boardwalk path is all completed its great!. so wear to stay in August??
Did the usual, no breaky included at Santika - although they gave us breakfast vouchers and after first morning whilst finishing breakfast they said they had made a mistake and wanted us to pay, we thought breakfast was included and for what you pay to stay at the santika you would think breakfast is included...oh well so we went over to Daddys upstairs, best breaky with the best best best pancakes in bali and you sit up high with the breeze and watch bali go by...
Ate dinner at the Sunset Restaurant Santika, was ok not cheap, Celcius at Centro, Febris a couple of times and room service..
Shopped at Centro and bought great shoes, kids clothes, have been buying cool girl brand for my daughter for years now, bought pjs in centro and matahari, got both kids sports shoes in matahari for school and fladeo brand black pumps for daughter for grade 1..very cute and great shoes, again have been buying this brand for years aswell..
Went to Diannes which was just really across the road from hotel, was so easy just to shop and not haggle...Dianne organised to get some girls shoes made for me as i couldnt be bothered searching bali for them...
Went to Seminyak and purchased a Joy bracelet (3set) which is lovely with the love hearts...love it..then walk back along main road and found light shop that sells Morroccon style lanterns etc...bought 1mtr tall light to hang form our bali gazebo which we had imported and has just been built and purchased the same lantern but smaller to put on table top. ($54 aus)
Then further down found a tin shop, hubby and i wanted some metal geckos to put on wall behind gazebo, well found a huge gecko, nearly 1mtr and got him for $130,000rp he is cool..could have kept shopping but kids had enough...
Took my cushion covers from outdoor lounges and had them copied from Bali Brumby (behind bubba gumps) had some made 2yrs ago and they wear well, have a outdoor water hyacyinth lounge with chaise, base covers are in a burgandy-red and back cushions in a vivid pink...cool, paid just over $100 aus but for 2 huge base covers and 5 back covers was great...To finish off i went to Mae-Mae and bought bolster covers in vivid golds and pinks-reds and rectangle cushions with inserts etc to all go on lounge...love this shop...i am like a bee to honey with all the colours etc....
Tuesday night 27th Jan - load of rain which caused flooding at front of Centro etc...was a bit scary for kids to see, daughter was crying and my 7yr old son was scared and vomited his dinner up at the front of the Iforie restaurant footpath...mmm spaghetti...poor kids..over the next few days if it rained they got nervouse and we explained how its the wet season...the look on thier faces wide eyed and little hearts beating thru thier chests!!
Took the kids to Legends with friends for dinner, 5yr old got up and sang preprimary song on stage...very cute and funny...dancing etc...then left at 9.30ish, never been here before was ok, but first time ever taken kids out to place like this in bali...
Sorry if i have rambled, just trying to remember what we did...
We had a nice break and the week did not go fast, ooh forgot to add hubby enjoyed crembath at Johnny Andrene and I had massage at Febris - which we have done in past trips...now to book and plan for august...
Thanks for reading...
