'riff raff' and encourage more 'upmarket clients'was a suggestion put forward to me by a friend who has a lover in Bali and visits frequently ! He reckons the plan is to make Bali more exclusive (like the Maldives say ) and that we will see a lot more places like Bvlgari, Four seasons etc setting up to cater for the top end luxury clients. It sure got me thinking !!!!!
I must admit, we have been going since the 70s ,and the biggest drawcard has always been the beautiful, friendly people but a huge plus was that we could afford to do whatever we wanted in Bali and never had to worry about the cost of anything. This holiday (leave in 2 weeks) - for the very first time - we have had to really shop arounbd to get affordable places to stay.
I honestly believe Bali will soon be unaffordable for many Bali lovers - especially we Ozzies,which would be a very sad day indeed :(
