The best is Square (a bit fusion type food) opposite the Santosa, the owner also has the main alcohol outlet so if drinks limited then well, grim indeed. Another goody is Bambu who do some good Thai inspired dishes, their prawns with lemon grass etc are excellent. Taman also has an array of local and western dishes and serve cappucino all day. Down out the back of the art market on the beach is De Quake (they have a website) and also Lotus who do some good fish and also pizza not bad. Towards Mataram about 5-10 minutes in a taxi Warung Menega does some good BBQ fish on the beach. On a day trip the Oberoi up north for lunch is nice but the most expensive and down south there is a good vegetarian Ashtari place up on the hill overlooking the beach of Kuta, Lombok.
