All this recent talk about Jetstar is getting me worried!

I paid for two Jetflex return tickets Melb to Bali back in August leaving 25 Dec and returning 10 Jan. I paid through the nose for these even though they were the cheapest available flights at the time. The economy had not yet collapsed at that stage!

Three weeks later I get an email from Jetstar offering "Cheap flights to Bali" Sure enough they were cheaper but only the return leg was available - via Darwin. I opted for this as the $600 saving (after 2 x $60 cancellation fees) could be spent on a better holiday in Bali.
I also had to fight to get the 2 x $19 back for meals on the original ticket. The only catch is having to wait at Darwin airport from 3:00AM to 8:15AM for the flight back to Melb.

Since then they have changed the return flight time twice. Strangely enough it always arrives at Darwin at 3:00AM regardless of departure time from Bali!

Note, since then cheaper direct flights back to Melb have popped up. That's life!

My question - Is it possible or even allowable to stay at Darwin airport for those 5 hours between the flights? I suppose we will be stuck with our luggage and have to take shifts in guarding that. We could take a taxi tour of Darwin but probably not much to see in the dark!
