Can get really noisy outside of the rooms and doesn't always work that well.

You must get a room facing the pools/beach/gardens,as the ones looking onto the road may disappoint.

My biggest issue with the Bail Garden on my last visit was security, as on two occasions during my stay reception allowed a street tout into the pool area to try to sell me jewelry that I had arranged to buy and have made through a stall in the markets.

This guy had nothing to do with the stall holder and was tagging around with us trying to get commission and no promises were made to him.

He threatened me on both occasions if I did not give him money, and I told him where to get off.

The last straw was when I told him straight he was getting nothing, he said i am not safe in Bali and if I leave the hotel him and his friends would kill me,"You are not safe in Bali my friend"

At that point I should have just decked him, little weasel.

I told security and they did nothing apart from ask him to leave the hotel.

I am not one to worry but after that I was watching my back a bit at night, just in case.

The point is, reception should not have let a shabby past it Javanese street tout into the hotel the "second" time especially as my wife had complained so loudly about his first visit.

Security at the hotel with their big guns are all for show, because they seemed a bit worried about this guy when he was ranting and pointing his finger at them.

I have been to Bali many times and never had a problem, but I wouldn't stay at the BGH again on principal.

Family hotel with dubious security.
