Just back from another business trip to Bali, staying at the Suri Wathi hotel.
Dont know if anyone is interested, but a few thoughts on this place for people to judge themselves.
We had 2 rooms there for ourselves and a few of our staff from Australia.
We were supposed to be in a deluxe room,(their best rooms??) which from day one had water dripping constantly, from the room above onto the wash alcove so that when you tried to brush your teeth or wash, you got a head full of water all over you.It gushed on some days thru the light fitting and how someone didnt get electrocuted was a wonder!
It meant that the wash area was deep in water all the time...all over the basin and floor, making it very dangerous and slippery, not to mention the potential disease risk.
It was either the toilet from the above room or their wash basin or bath/ shower. After a few days it stunk. We constantly had towels to soak up the water.
Every day management was asked to do something about it...they smiled and forgot it.
Staff sort of cleaned the room every day and just ignored it.The smell got worse..they ran a broom quickly over part of the floor and made the bed..that was the extent of cleaning.
The pool was green every day from day one...cloudy and poorly serviced.
Food was average, service on some days pathetic.
It became a chore daily to ask for towels....I dont think we ever got towels in our room..you had to ask sometimes 2 or 3 times.
Gardens look great..staff all over the place sweeping and tidying up so the hotel looks appealing to anyone walking in to have a look..pity they dont clean inside the rooms as well.
Staff is very friendly, and polite, they just do nothing except walk round with mobile phones in their ears, and play with each other. Its like a kindergarten at times with staff in training and having a ball.
We dont know what the other rooms are like, but going by ours and the extremely poor cleaning habits of staff and management, it is only a matter of time before a major disease passes thru this place....BEWARE!!
Someone only has to catch something from bad hygenic practices and go for a swim in the less than clean pool, and we have a major outbreak of cholera or something as bad go thru this place and spread.
We arent complaining as such, as it is a budget hotel, and obviously a lot of people like the place, but that is no reason to just ignore potential health problems. We had a great time regardless, and are used to poor service and cleanliness at many Bali hotels, but for those interested, we warn that maybe you should maybe look elsewhere if its a clean place to stay that you want.Something can always go wrong with any hotel, but you need to be sure that if a problem arises, the hotel management will at least take it seriously.
In closing, we have to say that the Bali Food Festival that was held last week was one of the best events we have seen in Bali over some 30 years..always could be better of course, but the organisers did a great job and should be pleased with the public response..terrific promotion, guys!
cheers all.
