with HBA travel insurance. My mum (who turned 80 the day after the accident) slipped on a step and hurt her ankle...we took her to Prima Medika in Ubud who gave us a cream for her to rub on and some asprin! After an incredibly painful night we took her to BIMC who xrayed and found crushed bones. They admitted her and told me to check w the travel insurance. HBA said that they would not cover her to be operated on in a 3rd world country (meanwhile the hospital is fabulous!) and refused to pay, but would upgrade her...big deal she was already business class. I explained that it involved her going home alone to a 2 storey house alone and she couldn't walk...5 days of threats of talk shows and current affairs programs finally got them to agree to an op here. Yes it was exxy but her orthopaedic surgeon was great and very lovely man,. she stayed her for 3 mths to recover and is now right as rain. The travel insurance doesn't pay once you are back in Australia so its much cheaper for them to get you out...no matter the circumstances. Pack of Bast***s!!!
