paying hotel in USD cash

I booked direct with the hotels we are staying in this December and they all only needed credit card details and no payment.
I have been stressing with the Aussie dollar dropping as all the hotels I booked quoted rates in USD. A few days ago I had the idea that if the Aussie dollar goes up (just a bit) I would buy American dollars to pay for my hotels and that way it doesn't matter what the Aussie dollar does I know where I stand in regard to paying for our hotel rooms.
I asked about it on the forum and some people thought I would still have to pay in Rupiah, just wanted to let you know I have contacted the hotels and they are fine with me paying in American notes the only comment was from Alam Indah stating "you can pay in USD cash, but the bill has to be not under 2001"
