Not only do the US notes have to be after 2001, but also, they cant begin with the serial letter C (cb the most common) as there have been many fake bills around in Indonesia starting with C. I think they have problems with the D as well.
Very few will accept notes beginning with CB, if they do, it will be at a lower rate.
Best to make sure the notes arent ripped, have any ink or small stamps on them and crease free. The Indonesians are very very fussy over their US dollar bills.
A few days ago it was 10,300 to the dollar.. :) but now its back to about 9700.
