My hotel (booked & paid in advance)in Perth last year was overbooked & we got transfered for one night to another hotel in another suburb..... Being in the industry, I understand what can happen as its not that uncommon especially during peak periods which Bali was last weekend. Note; hotels don't go out of their way to be overbooked, its a case of being caught off guard. Please also note its stressful on the staff during overbooked situations, but in saying that it still falls back on the hotels to provide alternative accommodation & depending on how it is handled, depends on how people react.
