the fact that the hotel is overbooked is entirely the fault of the hotel. having said that, by getting angry at the staff, who are usually not the ones responsible for the problem, doesnt help anyone.

ive been bumped a few times and have usually managed to get a few freebies thrown in as compensation.

in these situations its the hotels responsibility to find the guests who they are unable to accommodate an equal or better standard of accommodation as replacement.

funnily enough, there are a lot of hotels saying 'oh we never received the booking, the email must have got lost', which is quite strange as emails NEVER seem to get lost in low season.

on a different note, some people are bringing up the fact that there were a lot of 'muslims from java' in bali last week. so what? they are entitled to travel within their own country. put the shoe on the other foot and imagine if people from indonesia went to melbourne, for example, and then complained about 'so many protestants from sydney' there. doesnt quite sound right now, does it.
