There have been several postings lately about people with some new, and some used clothings (for charitable purpose)being asked to make substantial donations to the Balinese Customs Department.
We have taken a fair amount of stuff over in the past, and although questioned a couple of times, have never actually paid anything.
I am wondering if this is something that has changed over the last few months.
Does anyone know whether, if you are taking items over that are new, is it a good idea to take the wrapping etc off, or is this immaterial?
Also, I wonder if receipts showing purchase price are of any use?
I have a number of wooden blinds to take over (believe it or not, a lot cheaper in Aus. if bought pre made)and maybe these will be regarded as a money box!
I suspect that the answer may be in having multiples of the same thing (much the same as Aussie Customs), so perhaps some advantage in spreading across a few travellers
