Have been trying unsuccesfully to get cheap flights from Melb to Bali in 2009 June/July School Hols. Jetstar cheap seats booked out - Air Asia no luck with $0 flights - Singapore Airlines (outrageous fare prices) Garuda - you cant book on net direct. THEN I saw a suggestion from a forumite that the cheapest Jetstar flights you will get are from Perth. I checked and yes they are!!! All I had to do was get to Perth with wife and 11yo daughter? Had a look at Virgin and Qantas and they start at $190ea one way! then I had a look at Tiger - they got the three of us there with all extra costs for $372. Jetstar Perth to Bali return for three of us including all extra costs $1,494 - Total $1866 = $622 each. BUT GET THIS, IT IS OVER THE VIC JUNE/JULY SCHOOL HOLS - we depart one week early on 13/6/09 (I saw some later flights on 15th) and return on 6th July - only miss 6 days of school and we get 24 days away. Also note that the Perth flights are not at night each was as we had to do this year. 11am Dep Perth and arrive at Bali at 2.45pm - at 4.30pm I will be having a beer at the poolbar at MBR before going out for dinner. Going home we depart at 3.45pm to Perth at 7.15pm (We are spending night in Perth but you could get on the midnight flight to Melb) Yes, I know we need to get home from Perth yet (least of my worries) I figure I will wait for the specials next year for Perth to Melb flights - who knows I could pick up $30 flights???
